Friday 30th December - Friday

Blog Friday 30th December, London.

Today I woke up super early due to a stupid body clock - 4am gosh!

After a long stop in a starbucks, to recharge and check the Internet, we set out to go to the British Museum. We took the Underground to Oxford Circus (same as yesterday) and started walking in the general direction. Found a UniQlo on the way and had a nice time looking at the men's clothes. Charles bought a lovely burgundy corduroy shirt and Christina bought a black cardigan to replace the one she lost in New York. Great!

We continued on to the British Museum. First we saw the Rosetta stone which was amazing and wonderful. Then we stopped for some lunch at the canteen. It was nice (or so we thought at the time).

Then we looked at the ancient Greek statues and some other stuff before heading out into the town again. We walked down Oxford street and browsed some other shops. It was raining but nice. We really had fun walking and talking. We walked all the way back to the hotel, which took hours, because we probably took a stupid route and our feet were wet.

Back at the hotel Charles started feeling sick around 5 and has been really sick all night. He's resting now and I'm going to the chemist first thing for him to get some gastrolyte or whatever. I hope it's over now. We are blaming the sandwich he had for lunch that I didn't have. It seems that London is just a fun place that makes people sick. Me last year and now Charles. Maybe we won't come back again.

London 29 December 2011

Blog 29 December - London.

This morning at 6am Charles and I met at Heathrow Airport, London. It was so nice to see each other again after so long! We took the train to Paddington station where our hotel is. We were both tired (me from jet lag, Charles from lack of sleep) so we slept for a couple of hours.
Around 11am we walked out to Hyde Park which was lovely. Lots of squirrels and birds. Christina reached the low point of jet lag and so we walked back to the hotel for a nap.

After a little rest at the hotel we went to do some shopping! We headed out to Oxford Circus in the Bakerloo line. First was Liberty department store! It was super big and busy. Very pretty wooden building. Then we determined to go to Irregular Choice shoe shop in carnaby street - coolest of streets.. Charles bought me a lovely pair of shoes as my Christmas present! it is the coolest shop in the whole world.

We looked at lots of other shops around there too. It's a fashionable place. Lunch was had at a cute little restaurant which looked awful from outside but was lovely. We only went there because Pret A Manger was full, and I'm so glad it was! We also went to Vivienne Westwood (which we couldn't afford) and Urban Outfitters. But my lovely shoes were the only purchase.

Since we were so tired we couldn't stay out all night and got back to the hotel at about 5 and had take away food from the station for dinner (cornish pasties!). We watched Escape to the Country and it was just like being home. I kept falling asleep a little bit and consequently don't know which house they picked. It's now 10:04 and I feel like I've done pretty well today. It is so lovely to be together again! Now we can just talk all the time.
